A perfect 10. This was the story that confirmed to me that Night Gallery was the worthy successor to Serling's Twilight Zone. I also love the concept of the painting reflecting current events.

Creepy story, almost as creepy as Roddy McDowell's character. There is a very effective feeling of dread throughout this story. Good stuff.

My Rating: 8 - Very Good

Definitely my favorite from the 3 stories of the original movie - pilot. Roddy and Ozzie are just engaging to watch and the dread that permeates this story is gripping. Good choice to have Segal direct this one too, right up his style of film work.

10!

This is also my favorite of the 3 stories from the pilot simply because of the creepiness, the atmosphere and the very well-acted performances of Roddy and Ozzie.

10!

I haven't seen it in a long while, but one interesting thing is that reference to how badly McCready had treated McDowall's mother (I THINK it was his mother). That gives the story a sort of "Kind Hearts and Coronets" quality, where NO ONE is completely innocent.

Interesting point, TBFBL. I believe that's why this story plays stronger than the other 2, sans Jeremy having to knock off eight other heirs of course.. Macready wasn't a good nor necessarily loved man - as we saw with his final treatment of Portifoy's pension. Even in 1969, $60 a month was an insulting pittance.

this was stretching scf-fi :bell: as if anyone so slick could fall for superstition...and then have his killer also fall for the same superstsiton..presuemdley and supposedly when Portifoy dies of fright...the person who killed him will also see the "painging on the wall" and end up KAPUT

9 stars, I agree with you all the acting is great. A great story, I love the twist in a twist ending. The door opening at the end
was a genius touch.
