I've always really enjoyed this movie, in fact it's my favourite among the bunch of films AIP made mixing teenagers and horror such as Blood of Dracula, I was a Teenage Frankenstein and How To Make a Monster. I especially like the performances of Michael Landon and Whit Bissell, and the look of the werewolf is good too.

8/10

I haven't seen this one in decades, and I wasn't very impressed by it when I did (as a teenager in the 1960s on TV).

It doesn't compare well to another low budget movie of a similar nature from the 1950s called The Werewolf. Maybe I'd like I was a Teenage Werewolf more if I'd seen it when I was eight years old at a drive-in. That's when I saw The Werewolf. I think it was co-billed with Earth vs the Flying Saucers.

A great night for a wide-eyed, sci-fi loving kid.

Ah, 1st impressions leave an indelible mark, Bud. How can you not love Mike Landon and Whit Bissell together in the same movie? Add in some TZ alum: Barney Phillips, Malcolm Atterbury, and Vladimir Sokoloff.

For me it was the other way round, The Werewolf didn't compare to I was a Teenage Werewolf, different tastes I guess lol, but I must admit I was a kid when I first saw I was a teenage werewolf and an adult when I first watched The werewolf, so maybe you're right and the nostalgia factor makes a difference.
