I thought it was such an awful piece of crap. I did not find anything worthy of mentioning. But I did watch it....meh
I do not recommend this to anyone. Do not watch this.....extremely boring. Very slow and disappointing...although I went into it not expecting much. I am not surprised to be the only one commenting it.

Well, it is in public domain ... :D

This is another Barbara Steele Italian Gothic Horror films. Unlike Corman's AI Films and Hammer, the Italians hadn't discovered that cheap horror looks good in color sometimes. Keeping this in black and white may not have been the best choices - but then again, where the story lacks, the cinematography in this is very well done. Some great camera angles and storyboarding that - had the sets and design been a little better - would have been worthy of a Hammer film. Supposedly, Mario Caiano wanted to tint only the blood with red to add to the effect. Had he a better budget, that would have made the cinematography pop even more.

Being this is more or less a ghost story, there is little visual horror in "Horror Castle." Don't get me wrong, there is blood, torture, etc - tame by todays TV standards - but in 1965, shocking and sadistic. Hell, seeing Barbara Steele as a blond is quite shocking. Slow and boring - possibly, it is an Italian film - but going in knowing this, I got what I expected much like SVB.

Is this a great film - alas, no. Is this a cult film - most definitely. Hence, no better place than here to celebrate expose audiences to it.

5!

The story did feel like its been done a million time before. Almost like that is your basic ghost returns from the grave to seek revenge storyline.

I've seen this a couple times. I own it as part of a collection of horror films on DVD, so I've watched it around Halloween. Yeah, not one of my favorite movies -- sort of one that is playing in the background while I'm doing other things.

Gotta love those kind of movies. You dont care enough to give it special attention cause its lacking that something (and it kinda sucks), yet you want to be able to say you saw it lol. But there is always things going on that you got to take care of to.

This story kind of reminded me of Creepshow segments for some reason, but anyway...this movie deserves no more of my attention.
