It's not that bad of a forum... All Sci-Fi

There are a couple of nutcases over there, especially some dude who calls himself Bogmeister....

but, if you can look past all his ranting and raving, it can be an interesting place...

on some days...

Just a gentle little bump for non members and members alike.

For those who have that particular yen for sci-fi - you know, the gotta have it, can't get enough of it - type of yen? Then need we say more and shamelessly promote one of our Friends of PtE sites:

Image

Both we here at PtE and All Sci-Fi started around the same time, 5 years ago in a websphere far, far, away. We both have similar goals: To bring to the web forum community something that it's been missing. Where as we here don't necessarily reside in one genre, because that's the envelope we push, All Sci-Fi proudly proclaims, "Nothin' but pure science fiction!" We both share similar interests, some of the same members, but more importantly, we share a common love, that of classic - cult or otherwise - science fiction.

So, don't be afraid to venture forth, meet some of our friends, maybe make some new ones of your own and bring them around when your mom's not lookin' . After all, both our boards can always use thought provoking dialog. So head off down that cyber highway, spend a while, but don't forget to come on back to us here at PtE - we'll leave the light on for ya. ;)

Thanks for the heads up good Doctor, its always cool to see a little bit of cross promoting with forums, I might take a look.

Of course, I will always remain a loyal "PtE guy" , as I dont want MrZ to hurt me physically if I attempted to leave. jk :)
Hmmm....The Bogmeister. Sounds like the All Sci Fis version of me. What nutcase doesnt like to rant and rave? ;)

Don't look now, but your crazy old friend, Bud Brewster, will actually be publishing three -- count 'em three -- novels by the end of 2013!

The first one is entitled The Hero Experience, the second is called The Wishbone Express, and the third is call Sail the Sea of Stars.

Below is the first draft of the cover for The Wishbone Express. The font of the title and the author's name (me) will be changed. The text on the back cover hasn't been finalized yet, so it's just filler at the moment.

After years of hoping to be a published author, this is a dream come true. I'm sure that your members who already enjoy being published authors (Jonny Duffy, for example) will understand my joy.

The text below will be the promotional blurb on the back cover when it's published.
____________________________________________________

The Wishbone Express is a science fiction novel set several hundreds years in the future, when faster-than-light space travel is common and millions of inhabited worlds are part of a galactic society.

The story focuses on two men (Randy Henson and Bill Jenkins) who operate an interstellar courier service, using their fast and highly advanced star ship, the Wishbone. They accept a contract to transport a key witness in a government hearing which will decide the fate of the planet's current regime. The witness is accompanied by an attorney and alien body guard.

But during the journey the Wishbone is pursued across thousands of light years by three well-armed ships which attempt to destroy the Wishbone, her crew, and their three passengers.

The story employs a wealth of well-researched and interesting cosmological facts to present a scientifically accurate description of astronomical phenomenon which play key roles in this fast-past story. The Wishbone's crew uses intelligence and imagination to out-maneuver and out-wit their pursuers as they fly through dense nebula, past the lethal radiation of pulsars, etc.

The two crewmen do not know, however, that their passengers are harboring secrets they are keeping from both the crew and from each other.

After a dangerous and action-packed journey, the crewmen attempt to land their badly damaged spacecraft on their destination planet while dealing with unexpected complications concerning the true identities of their passengers -- including the fact that one of them is a paid assassin who is determined to kill everyone on board, steal the Wishbone, and collect a bounty on the witness who is supposed to testify in the government hearing.

The Wishbone Express is rich with exciting action, celestial splendor, unexpected plot twists, and generous amounts of humor

Who buys books in book stores anymore?

Well, lots of folks do, but my novels (two of them) will be sold on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Just a few clicks and they'll be delivered to your doorstep -- anywhere in the world!

Today I received the final version of the cover, complete with a font change I requested and the promotional text on the back I wrote for the novel.

I know that science fiction writer Jonny Duffy is a member of this board, and I'd love to hear his opinions on both the cover and the story concept. Perhaps he'll add to this thread and provide a new writer with some advice from an old pro.

Here's the final cover.

Some of you may not know that All Sci-Fi had to start from scratch in September (2014) after the web host we depended on for seven years simply ceased to exist.

Now we're rebuilding it -- and making it better than before.

One reason to consider joining All Sci-Fi is our rewards program. Active members get one of the T-shirts shown below.

Free. :D

We hope you'll give us a look. (Click on the picture).

The end of All Sci-Fi

I have some very sad news. I was informed today that the hard drive on the server that hosted All Sci-Fi suffered a catastrophic failure, and the database for the board was irretrievably lost.

All Sci-Fi has ceased to exist.

I’d like to express my thanks to all the folks who supported it over the years. This is a fine board, and I hope it continues for years to come.

Very sorry to hear this Bud. :(

For a variety of reasons, myself, DrMoreau and a few of the other core members have not been around as much as I would like, for some time.
But I never like to hear of any board that has been around for a while to be closed for business, for whatever reason.
The fact that its a board associated with ours in a couple ways, makes it worse.

I believe DrM has a few safeguards in place here, but I am not 100% on that.

As always, you are certainly welcome here, and hopefully I can start stopping in a bit more often too.
Let me know if there is anything I can do.
