Lee Meriwether as Dr. Ann McGregor! Youch! Plus set in the Future of 1968?!?!
This had to have inspired James Cameron for his epic classic! I did watch the series back in the
day though. Unfortunately there weren't too many nerds who did. :ROTF:

Well, there was some stiff competition back in 1966. Time Tunnel fell in between: Wild Wild West, Hogan's Heroes on CBS & Tarzan, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on NBC. A statement to the influence of Irwin Allen during the 1960s.

The pilot episode knocked my socks off with scenes like the ones below. Very reminiscent of the set designs in Forbidden Planet.

Seems like we hardly ever saw anything like these again. (sigh . . . )

After the first episode you can't see any the area around the time tunnel and it's operators. They just kept the set dark beyond the immediate area of the time tunnel and the control panels. I guess we were supposed use our imaginations and pretend all the great stuff in the photo above was there.

Having worked on all of "Uncle" Irwin's TV series I can state that this was my favorite.

The Tunnel set matte painting was by Bill Creber. The shaft sets were partially built by yours truly and filmed by L. B. "Bill" Abbott.

Very cool, Butch. :D What kind or fun back stories do you have about this or other episodes?

To get an appreciation of HOW MUCH work goes into creating a series like The Time Tunnel go to Bud's site and check out TTT thread. It's VERY long!

There is also a yahoo group about The Time Tunnel that I occasionally contribute to. :sparkle:
