I was surprised when I realized about two years ago that there were significant changes in the design of the movie Seaview and the TV version. The biggest difference involves those cool observations ports. The original Seaview had eight, and this design was used during the first season of the TV series (according to Wikipedia).

However, the design was changed in the second season. The eight ports became four, and they added two bumps to the hull (one on each side, just back of the prow). I like the original eight ports better.

As you can see from this second jpg, the big change to the interior was the fact that the bridge area was placed closer to the front and it was not separated from the observation room (as it was in the original).

That allowed the folks on the bridge to actually look out the view ports. I have to admit, I like this idea better than the movie version's design.

What do you guys think?

The MAJOR problems with moving the control room foreward are that they still climbed up the ladder and ended at the sail and that the flying sub entrance was at an inconvenient location considering the design.

Pretty good start with season one's Cold War episodes...diminished in quality somewhat after season two.
