Asking me to choose between these two, is kind of like having 2 super hot chicks to have sex with, but you must only pick one.

:D
On that note, I rather like them both. Its a bit too close to call for me really.
Not having seen either in ages makes it tougher.
(That aside, I know damn well I have seen TSM far fewer times)

Nice comparison, thats exactly why I made the poll, more specifically for the board in general. I figured it would be a divided group and close race here at PtE over two considered "classics"

It's TEAL for me - mostly due to the performance of Burgess Meredith, who kind of gives the ultimate TZ performance here. Both have those surprise sucker punch endings, maybe the best of the TZ series. Also, full disclosure - I already picked TEAL as the all-time best on the All Sci-Fi board about a year ago, so it would be strange to change that now.

PS: looks like I'm the only one who voted in the poll so far - also strange... :?

I voted TEAL but I believe my vote was reset when the "equal" option was added.

This is correct. If an option gets added, the tally gets started over because - essentially - it becomes a new poll.. This is the primary factor our older pre phpbb.0 upgrade polls have never been altered with Zero and Other being choices. Everyone would have to revote.

And, on that not, I voted again - still lovin' the TEAL.

Hmm..sorry about the screw up DrM. I was unaware of the change. I must have been editing it and left it in by mistake. I dont even want to mess with it now. Im glad I didnt make the option to vote twice, that could have made it even more confusing.

Hey, it happens. Only down side is only a few of us will have to vote again. Could have been worse, the poll was early still. ;)

Wow, I always thought "To Serve Man" was more popular. With its Kanamits, and its cathphrase " Its a cook book!!!", thought more
would like it better than TEAL, I know I do.

Yes Burgess delivers a fine performance, I just love the pacing of TSM better, and the action, and the visuals, and the acting in TSM is excellent as well, IMHO.

Neither--To Serve Man is depressing...as for TEAL all the food/water and everything else for one would have been contaimined by radiation--so it just be a matter of time for old Beamis to get radiation poisoning :wtf: Besides what is his eyesight-far sighted hold the book away--near sighted hold it close.... :yada:

Somehow the Kanamit's last line makes it less depressing to me. Nearly the scariest moment of the whole story to me is when that automatic door opens and he glides into the room, and instead of terrorizing Lloyd Bochner, he gives him that friendly (read "ironic") little lecture about eating! The whole story is a SORT OF dark comedy, but that moment really tops it off.

To Serve Man. Love the twist, love the Kanamit, love the impending doom of the ending.

:D TSM does have a shocking twist ending, that is very memorable, also the story is deep and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time, plus the
pacing and dialog are great. And yes, the Kanamits are awesome.

TEAL is fine, but it starts off slow and gets muddled in the middle, it loses itself. Has a great ending, but I love TSM ending better.
