I like them both, but I prefer Herrmann's version even though the Constant version is alot more famous, because I think that Herrmann's music suits the mysterious qualities of the show better.

I actually like the Constant theme just a little better. But I really like the Herrmann theme, too. It is a more mysterious theme.

I actually go for the Constant theme.
Its just so much more recognizeable, and identifiable with the show.

I do like them both alot actually.

One thing is for sure though................. I definitely like the mid-episode "bumper" from the earlier seasons, WAAAAAY more than the later ones. (shows a brief glimpse of the cave)

Yeah I can see what you both mean TZ DZ Fan and Whitsbrain, the Constant theme is great and is the theme everybody remembers from the show, it's just the subtlety and mystery of Herrmann's theme appeals a bit more to me.

Two schools of thought here.

Herrmann = Soothing background with ambience.

Constant = Attention grabbing dynamic sounds.

For repetitive listening, the Hermann theme is great. I used for the mood music in my "Eye of the Beholder" Game. It mixes well with about any instance and adds an eerie mood to just about any scene.

For attention grabbing instant recognition, Constant is the definite choice. However, after a run thru or 2, it does begin to grate.

So, the short and long of it, best opening theme: Constant. Best over all composition: Herrmann.

Herrmann's theme was mostly in the first season right? and Constant is the theme from the last few seasons, that basically everyone knows and heard whenever TZ is referenced?
If that is the case, I guess I have to go with Constant as it sets the mood, but the original was good as it kind of gives the earlier episodes its own distinguishable quality.

Yes that's right, Herrmann's theme is only heard in the first season.

I think I give the slight edge to Constant, but like everyone here, I definitely like both and for different reasons.
