This is a great idea for those of us that would like to see a few OL episodes, but don't have any other way.

But I do urge that you watch this soon if you haven't already seen it.

Most all of the TZs and OLs get yanked down off youtube at some point.

They are so affordable on DVD though. There is virtually no excuse not to own them!

Well I have them. (and have had them for going on 2 years I think)

Wasn't it you that had the VHS sets? Hey, a copy to watch is a copy to watch though. Or maybe it was TZ that you have on VHS..... I can't remember.

I just picked up TOL on DVD a few weeks back. I got all three volumes (the complete series) for around $60 including tax at Best Buy. At that price there is no excuse not to own them. And yes, I still have the complete series on VHS as well. The official Columbia House ones that came in 24 tapes.

I've had the Definitive Edition DVDs of TZ since their original release dates. I also still have the 43 tape Columbia House set of the entire series as well.

I think I need a new DVD set of TOL. I was watching The Human Factor and the disc froze on me. Even after cleaning - and I take care of my DVDs - it wouldn't budge. OK, perhaps it's not a top-flight episode, but it's got Sally Kellerman in it, so I need a copy that works. Roll on, the Complete, Definitive Outer Limits with extras. I wish.

I finally got ahold of the Definitive, Complete TZ (unissued here in Europe, to my knowledge) and my mouth is watering at the prospect of watching all of these again (expect to see me on those threads, folks!) I'm not sure that I've even seen every episode. Many hours of viewing pleasure await.

Ikar, if you have the original double sided TOL DVDs (the ones that came in the silver packaging) there have been plenty of complaints about them freezing and skipping. The new three volume set that I bought is amazing though and I highly recommend it!

Ain't that the truth. Architects & Corpus used to get stuck all the time. As did, coincidentally, Human Factor and Chameleon. I finally just ripped them to single sided DVD and stored the masters away.

Good to hear about the TZ acquisition, Ikar. I'm looking forward to your reviews.

You can buy European versions (region 2) here but I expect it would be cheaper to get them in from the US as long as you have a region-free player.

Funny, mine hangs on "It Came Out of the Woodwork".

DrM, I have asked for your "tech" opinions many times before...what software would you recommend for ripping DVDs? Just a product name would be great! I have never done this and would really like to put TOL on single-sided discs.

I would kill for a TOL treatment similar to the TZ Definitive Edition!

Thanks!

Yeah, it is the original R1 issue, Cyril. I didn't know that it was a release notorious for freezing though and I always wished for single-sided discs just for the sake of convenience of handling. Might get the R2 releases as MrRSerling suggests, as they can be found pretty cheap here. But I am tempted by the new R1 three volume set...

Cheers, DrMoreau! I've already been basking in viewing several episodes, so I'll have to catch up on my posting. Precious little free time these days, that's what it is...

Personally, I use DVD Fab Platinum and it was worth every penny. Removes the protection, allows me to rip to single sided DVD, Zune, Phone or whatever. Oh, once it is purchased, you get free lifetime updates :D

Just stumbled across this on youtube................

Apparently MGM has "officially" put some original OL episodes up for viewing, on youtube. (I believe several of these were added only a month or so back.)

MGM Digital Media has a youtube channel, and its located here. ~~~~~~~> http://www.youtube.com/user/MGMDigitalMedia

I only think they have a handful of episodes there for viewing, and they are : The Human Factor, The Premonition, The Man Who Was Never Born, and Controlled Experiment.
I also noticed they have a few other "random" shows and movies. "Casino Royale" from 1967 is one.

The only thing really noteworthy is, these seem to be exceptionally clean. I figure they have been remastered, or reworked and cleaned up. From what I can see, by looking at "TMWWNB", it looks damn pristine, and I assume the rest of these are the same.
It is truly worth a look, if even only for a few minutes.
For those of us that have seen them online, or even own the DVDs, check it out. They certainly look better to me!
