Welcome to Week 1 of The Outer Limits - Episode of the Week Thread.

Much like the TZ version, we are going to review episodes of The Outer Limits that may or may not get the attention they deserve.

To start, we are going into Season 1 and taking a look at what begins in the 1920s when a mysterious package arrives for the newly weds, simply labeled:

Don't Open Till Doomsday.

A splendid idea DrM!!

I thought about this a long time ago, but didn't know if there would be enough interest. (didn't really know about TZ either)

We could even alternate between TZ and OL to keep things "fresh" as well.

Thanks again for keeping that going whilst I was busy on the home front.
I will see if I can snag this one later in the week.

Thank you, sir.

I figured that not all our members or guests get to view our Hulu links - not being in the US of A and all - and hopefully we will get get some activity in the old TOL threads too.

I love the TOL and TZ episode of the week ideas. I have commented on these in the threads before but maybe weekly rewatches will jar some new thoughts loose. I've been a little busy lately so I haven't been able to participate here much, but this is a nice effort to keep the board fresh.

Maybe you scared them off when you were looking through the peephole at them. :ROTF:

Well, "Don't Open Till Doomsday" is one of the weirder hours of TV you will ever see, so I am not surprised.

Week 2 of The Outer Limits - Episode of the Week Thread.

"Is this the day? Is this the beginning of the end? There is no time to wonder. No time to ask why is it happening, why is it finally happening. There is time only for fear, for the piercing pain of panic. Do we pray? Or do we merely run now and pray later? Will there be a later? Or is this the day?"

As I said on the TOP TEN EPISODES thread, this is the kind of story that can easily get depressing for me, but it just doesn't. It has too much of a "fairy tale" quality to do that. Plus, I'm biased about any weird story with any kind of a 19th Century connection (due to Tess and her father) and any kind of a ' 20s connection (due to the Lattimers and Florida).

In The Outer Limits Companion, Schow and Frentsen say that Nellie Burt has the best part, but to me it's a toss-up between almost all of them! I've always liked Vaughn Taylor's overly-formal version of Randall Lattimer (like when he shows Wade his business card, as if they were meeting on a train or something!), and Gloria Grahame's "Norma Desmond" version of the Florida character. And Luana Anders really, really makes you believe in Tess as a character.
