ORIGINAL AIR DATE: June 10, 1989
STARRING CAST: Mary Ellen Trainor, Larry Drake, Marshall Bell, Lindsey Whitney Barry

The holiday chopping season runs late when an axe-toting maniac dressed as Santa makes a Christmas Eve visit to a philandering wife who murdered her hubby. Sorry, lady. He's not offering an escape Claus!

Santa Claus definitely came down her chimney that night - Ha Ha Ha. Red is the Christmas color after all.

8!

A '9' for me. I think the combination of horror/gore and Christmas makes this such a frightening episode. As a kid, it definitely spooked me watching it at night in the dark. Santa is supposed to be a happy, jolly fellow!

Larry Drake, more physical acting than dialogue, did a great job as the fugitive mental patient. Mary Ellen Trainor was a bit annoying and her acting a tad overdone, which knocks this down a point for me. As part of the series opener (aired alongside "The Man Who Was Death" and "Dig That Cat...He's Real Gone"), it just keeps delivering.

Agreed. I believe this was the first one I saw but I could be mistaken. It has to be...I was so damn frightened...and it was probably the first real Horror themed show I have ever viewed in my life. I was exposed to this stuff at an early age....another funny advantage to having HBO as a child....anyway...I was hooked...for years this episode stayed on my mind...I was frightened but yet so hooked...I couldnt look away and even for 20 minutes this one keeps you hooked and has just the right amount of shocks. I'll give it a 10. One of the best.

It's a good episode, and Alan Silvestri's score is really reminiscent of portions of his Back To The Future score which is cool but but I was a little dissapointed by the ending. 6/10

This episode still scares the shite outta me. Good suspense throughout. Direction and score make it enjoyable.
