I really want to watch twin peaks for just one reason....Miguel Ferrer.

As far as roles people were born for, I tend to think about this a lot. Frankly, its kind of hard to assume any actor is perfect for that specific role. Think about all the shows we love and the characters on them. How we all think the shows wouldnt be what they are if they had different people playing them. Because we have never seen them different, we would never truly know if it could have been better or worse.
For example , I use to love watching the NBC show the Office. I imagine if one of those characters wasnt the same, would I still love the show as much? I think we just get comfortable watching them, we'd hate to see what it was like with someone else.

can't imagine Dwight played by anyone other than Rainn Wilson

they re-did Perry Mason in the early 70s with a different cast and it tanked.
ditto Kolchak

David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine.

There have always been two marks against him with people, one more obvious than the other. First, according to so many Bruce Lee fans, the whole premise was his idea and he was cheated out of the role.
The other is of course the non-Asian actor reason. But, he did things with that role that probably no other actor could've done, without being the slightest bit Chinese.

I also heard that Bruce Lee, according to" the powers that be" , looked too ethnic( too asiatic) for the role, which to me is nonsensical and depressing.

Yet I do love David Carradine, his calm presence/ acting acumen were awesome for the role.

Leonard Nimoy , in similar fashion, was perfect for the role of Spock, his looks, acting finesse, and his control are top notch.

Good one, Sailor.

I feel Jason Alexander owned the role of George Costanza. As I recall, he auditioned the role to be akin to
Woody Allen, yet he really evolved the character over the years.

Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker.

(Some of the joke were laid on a little too heavily - not just with Archie but with the other three - but that's definitely my only complaint.)

O'Connor was a great talent. I agree that he was born for the role.

What did you think of Sherman Hemsley for George Jefferson? I really liked him.

pretty one dimensional imho

really memorable characters can swallow up an actor/actress to the point of ending careers. the cast of Gilligan's Island comes to mind.

Good point, George Jefferson was pretty single minded, yet Weezie , his wife could break him down at times.

Jack Ritter as Jack Tripper was perfect for me.
