Okay, so this is one of the rare few new games I plan on getting. I don't get many new games these days. Anyone else plan on getting this? I love Rockstar. You play as an L.A. cop and you start as a uniformed officer and move up the ranks to become a detective and solve homicides I believe. Sounds fun, I'm reading good things about it.

When I get the chance, I'll mostly be playing old arcade games with a modded X Box with a MAME disc (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator). I'll probably get maybe one or two new games a year.

Sounds like fun. I kept seeing ads, thought it was a movie, haha. I may get it.

I sometimes play atari games online. I have played some old text games. Such as, Zork and Leather Goddesses of Phobos. Fun times.

Dr. M, thank you so much for posting the above. This looks pretty slick an it is film noir-ish, but not enough, sadly, a tad brighter than I
would expect, some of the animation motion looks a bit like the SIMS, yet better than that, thankfully.
Acting seems appropriate. I just may search this out , when I can.

Awesome. Rockstar is the shiznit. Them and Capcom produce some awesome games IMO. I highly recommend the Capcom Classics collections released on PS2 and X Box.

Just curious, do you play street fighter? I am a fan of Mortal Kombat, too, but can not find a good emulator.

Cool thread.

Not often. Just get Capcom Classics Collection. Street Fighter 2 is on there.

Speaking of Mortal Kombat, there's an awesome new Mortal Kombat game for X Box 360 and PS3 out now. Anywyay, almost done with L.A. Noire, just have landmarks and film reels left to find. Anyone else here get a chance to play this yet. If you watch a lot of TV, you'll recognize a lot of the actors, like the guy that plays the homicide partner was on Quantum Leap and a lot of other shows and movies, he plays Galloway in the game, plus it has Carla Gallo from Undeclared and Carnivale and John Noble from Fringe. Plus Cole Phelps himself was just on The Good Wife last season, great cast. I also liked how they made Phelps quite flawed and not completely likeable, Rockstar took a hell of a chance doing that. If you see the cutscenes, you'll know what I mean, it's towards the end of the game and the ending was quite shocking and interesting as well to me. The cinematics from the newspaper headlines were a nice touch as well.

As a native L.A. Driver, I had great fun driving streets that are now One-Ways and are no longer dead ends. The map is 95+% accurate.

The movie set is way wrong however. It was never on Francisco & 8th - it was on Van Owen or Gower up in Hollywood and was torn down in the 20's I believe.

Have you downloaded and played the add on missions?

Apparently the 'Complete Edition' will be out in the next week or two. I'm waiting for the PC version myself.

I'm going to try to get the Complete Editon when I can afford it. It just doesn't pay to get new games when they first come out anymore, with all the expansion packs. I prefer it on discs than having to download additonal stuff. Call me old fashioned, but I think if you buy a game, everything should be on there already. I just need to get the remaining film reels in this game and then maybe I'll try the additional missions on the Complete Edition. This is why I rarely play newer games and why I most likely eventually will stop and become one of thos retro gamers. I like everything to be on the cartridge or disc already and they're too expensive. It's a modded X Box for me with an arcade emulator disc, when I can afford it.

Steam had the complete edition on sale over Christmas for something like $15

RockStar had an Advanced Order Coupon - or something to the like - that you paid $10.00 and got all the extras for free. It even transfered over for the PC version. So ... beat it on PS3 - 5 Stars and all films/locations and did it again on PC. Much better on PC IMO.

Definitely, you're not so limited on that compared to a console. :)

It's OK, but a game that one should play slowly, i.e., an episode every few days. And I don't know if it's possible to improve on one's score after completing a case.

Yeah I know about getting it online, but I don't play online. I'm old school, I'm all about hard copies, cartidges or discs, just pop in the game and play it, none of this downloadable content crap. That's why I rarely buy a new game and when I do, I wait until all the downloadable stuff is on discs, so I don't have to download it, just get it on the discs. I come from the old Nintendo, SNES, Atari days. Never bothered with Odyssey though, but I've seen it.

Head to your local Game Stop or similar. The Complete Edition was released Thanksgiving 2011 or there after.

It's damn enjoyable from my viewpoint. Most of the mapping is still viable today - a couple of minor changes over the years - 1 ways, roads completed, etc.

The best way that I've found to drive is to moderate the throttle by tapping it rather than just flooring it. Finding all the film reals and hidden cars is nice too. Be sure to get all the newspapers.

Got them all, but what sucks is when you get the complete edition, they make you get them all over again, rather than just letting you play the downloadable content missions. At least I still have the achievements as proof that I already did all that stuff.

Now finished 100% of The Complete Edition as well. I just hope Rockstar doesn't pull this crap again though.
