Bad video. Kinda like the song. Susanna Hoffs is definitely a sexy babe. I think she had a solo career later on too and even did some movie with Joan Cusack, The All Nighter, pretty bad but has some babeage. Still a better song than Manic Monday too.

"Hey Beavis, would you Bangle her?"
"Yeah YEAH hehe"

In 1983 I wondered what the hell was so good about this one and 25 years later I still haven't figured it out.

One word describes this one, Overkill.

Rockit is seriously one of the greatest videos of all time. It's 36th on my list in fact. Godley & Creme are genius directors, man!

I've been reading the list but I'm saving comments till after you reveal the #1 video. Rockit has never appealed to me but from reading similar lists on other boards, There are many others that like it just as you do. I have to say that I'm quite surprised by the number of 80's videos on your list. I thought you were more of a 90's person and at least we agree on Hungry Like the Wolf and Enjoy the Silence. Those 2 and possibly others from your list would definitely be in my top 50.

You Can Call Me Al

The fun thing about this video is simply the fact that Paul Simon didn't want to do it. He hated the ideas of video and the Company wanted to spotlight him. Paul and Chevy came up with the idea and basically did it in one take. It's good to be one of the Original SNL Multi-Hosts I suppose. You know that you can do something in one take.

Well, it's true that I have a slight infatuation with the 90's but for this countdown I have taken everything from 1980-present into consideration. I grew up in front of the television so a lot of these 80's videos (especially from 1985 and later) I've seen just as much as anyone. There are more surprises in store as well as a few obvious choices, but feel free to chime in any time you want as it's going to be more then three weeks until the end.

Godley and Creme sounds familiar. Did they have any videos or hit singles as a group or just as directors?

You know, there is probably a good reason for that, Major :ROTF: Both the Video and Song sucked ass. Stop Motion jitters to cause the epileptic fits. Still, it was better than Dance Hall Days - like that's saying anything.

That sum up everything you want to know!

They were most famous for directing many of the Police's early videos.

Yeah Cry, I remember that song because they showed the video on Beavis and Butthead and it's also on the Grand Theft Auto 4 soundtrack, I knew they sounded familiar.

They had one other top 40 hit with Do You Want Crying.

They also did the original version of Going Down to Liverpool which was covered by the Bangles

Definitely not one of DefLep's grander moments I'll give you that.

Pass the Cutchie Dutchie from the left hand side - either way a bowl was being passed. Not an overtly terrible video, but CHEEZ "E" as hell. Gotta love the jury passing the huge ass boom-box down the row - sooo 80's.

I loved this song when I first heard it in 1977, Don't ask me why though.

Ram Jam - Black Betty

Love the song but the video reeks of cheesiness.

Herb Alpert - Rise

See above excuse for this one

I guess no one told Bob Welch that it's a video and he is just lip syncing - no need for the microphone. This song always reminded me of his previous hit, Hypnotized only at a disco pace.

Since it's Major's B-Day today - we'll let him off the hook of here in his daily cheese thread. But, fret not, to fill the void its absence leaves - PtE offers this POS. Hate this band - it's one of my daughters favorites from a few years back :yack:

This song has some of the worst lyrics ever, its too slow, its awful, I think they pay people to put it on their radio stations, one Rap station here used to play it, just sad to hear it sandwiched between 50 cent and Flo Rida.

I think you inadvertently hit the nail on the head....... but you might not have realized it.
If you hear those three artists back to back, then its time to begin a quest for a new radio station.
In fact, if you hear any of those songs or acts, then its time to listen elsewhere, in my opinion.

I have to add this video. I love the song, I'm weird, what can I say? The video is just a trippy thing that makes me glad we have the animation we have now.
