Got the first Guitar Hero game 6 months after it was released (after a friend who was blown away by it finally made me come over and try it out) and have been hooked ever since. GHII, 80s and GHIII are all in my collection now. I can play through almost anything on hard difficulty and about half of the tunes on expert, but I don't think I'll ever beat any of the games on expert. I think I've reached my peak GH skills. :)

Heres a few just for fun........................

The Disco Boys - For You (this is a tad different crossover type song, that was done with Manfred Mann's Earth Band of all people) You can definitely tell the influence. :D

Eric Prydz - Call on Me
Image

Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms (the club mix is far superior)
Image

Erick Morillo - Dancin' (Fuzzy Hair Remix) the other is garbage, and its tough to find the fuzzy hair remix, believe me.
Image

The Egg - Wall (Mylo remix)
Image

Benny Benassi - Love is Gonna Save Us (2007 mix)
Image

Benny Benassi - Who's Your Daddy?
Image

Mylo - In My Arms
Image

I like seeing Finch in that group! Their first album is one of my favorites - plus I love the two tracks on that first album featuring Glassjaw's frontman, Daryl Palumbo (Grey Matter & Project Mayhem).

I enjoy "What It Is To Burn", too. "Say Hello To Sunshine" is such a departure, though. It's pretty gutsy. I don't thiink it paid off commercially for Finch.

The track "What It Is To Burn" is what got me into the band - I heard it on a compilation CD. After such a huge success with that first album, the second one was so highly anticipated, IMO, and it was like 3 years before "Say Hello To Sunshine" was released. I can't remember if the band split up in between those times, but I'm pretty sure they have now. And yes, I don't think they made it commercially with that second release.

"Say Hello To Sunshine" sounded like a mix of Faith No More, I Mother Earth and Incubus. It took quite a few listens before I really liked it, but I enjoy it now. It just seems very ambitious (or derivative, depending on your point of view).

I've probably only listened to it once through - I'll have to download it and give it another whirl.

Letters To Cleo is my favorite band ever. So you don't like Aurora Gory Alice at all? I got a copy of the original version off their official website, which is surprisingly still around, which is really cool because you can still get T-Shirts and CDs from there. I think it's http://www.letterstocleo.net

You had a chance to check out any new stuff from former Cleo singer Kay Hanley? She's got a couple of solo albums now, still with Cleo guitarist Mike Eisenstetin (who they called USA Mike for some reason and who Kay married). She did some cool project with Nina Gordon and someone named Michelle Lewis called The Lady Apples. Her official site is http://www.kayhanley.com

Yeah I remember this one, and I know exactly what you mean about the bass - the beat is very recognizable and needs the thump that isn't provided through youtube. Funny thing, on New Year's Eve at my brother-in-law's place, his (or his fiancee's) iPod was on shuffle and sure enough, Sneaker Pimps' 6 Underground comes on -- brought me back a decade, the first song I heard from them.

Though this thread is filled with random tracks, I'm listing a few specific tracks on my "Pump Energy Drink" mix filled with songs from bands that are sure to juice you up (at least they do for me). Anyway, I recommend these for download:

'It's Dangerous Business Just Walking Out Your Front Door' by Underoath
'Brooklyn Is Burning' by Head Automatica
'Small Town Minds/First Class Mail' by MxPx
'Suggestion Box' by MxPx
'Right Side of the Bed' by Atreyu
'Make A Move' by Lostprophets
'All These Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)' by Bullet For My Valentine
'Pretty Lush' by Glassjaw

I was at work last night listening to "Lucy" Alternative Hits on XM and they played the song Superman's Dead by Our Lady Peace. It really brought me back almost a decade to when I first heard the song and saw the music video. It was one of my favorite tracks and I own a few of their albums, including Clumsy which features the above track, but hearing that song made me realize I haven't listened to their CDs in quite some time.

Whit, I know you listen to some of the pop rock stuff; I recommend giving this album a listen (if you have not at some time already done so), I think you would enjoy it.

I thought "Our Lady Peace", was a bit different.

I know it was more mainstream, but I thought it was more hard rock/metal than pop.

I only vaguely remember them.

Thanks for the comment, it made me re-read my post. I didn't mean to come across as claiming OLP as pop. They're more alternative rock than hard rock or metal though. I guess when I consider the bands I listen to now, OLP is 'lighter' and more mainstream....thus my recommendation for whit, whose list of bands (some I've heard of, others I have not) can be considered more mainstream or alt. rock.

I still post over there, just not that often. Only when something catches my eye. I'm just not into the messageboard thing in general these days. So don't get offended if I only post here sporadically!

Oh, and regarding the Rihanna song....that is a freaking awesome song. Even if you don't like that kind of music, I don't see how you can fight its catchiness. Same with "Umbrella." That one made my Top 20 songs of 2007 list!

Sorry I missed this post way back when...

Our Lady Peace, yep good band. Although I haven't kept up with them, I snapped up their first three album, "Naveed", "Clumsy" and "Happiness...Is Not a Fish You Can Catch". I'd classify them as hard rock but not metal. Good stuff!
