I hope this thread is appropriate for this section or this site, i.e., classic movies that we saw when we were young but can't identify. The only rule is to give as much information as possible about the movie and hope that someone can come up with a title.

Here's what I remember:

The movie is in color and was probably made during the 1960s. I think it must have been shown at the same time as

Captain Nemo and the Underwater City (1969)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065522/

It is very likely a production of the U.S. or the U.K.

The only scene I remember is a large room, with the walls and floor made of wooden planks. Everyone appears to be wearing pirate or sailor's costumes. The time appears to be set during the 19th century or earlier.

The center of the room is bare, save for a trap door at the center. Some men appear to be prisoners, a brought forward and questioned by some seated at the end of the room. Finally, one of the prisoners is accused and is condemned to die.

The trap door is opened, revealing only the mouth of what appears to be a large monster. The man is thrown in, and is eaten by the beast.

Does anyone recognize this movie?

Unreal. I don't have an answer for you Anton, but I was browsing Warner Bros. Archive site this morning and I saw "Captain Nemo and the Underwater City" listed there. It caught my eye and I thought "What the Hell is that? I've never heard of that movie before". Weird that you mention it today.

It does sound familiar, possibly Mysterious Island (1961).

Thanks! Some of these shows were shown on TV around a decade later, and I could not remember the titles. I checked Mysterious Island, but could not find the scene that I mentioned. I'll let you know if I do.
