...of getting their 2nd ranked asses eliminated from the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by my beloved Blueshirts! The Rangers, for years famous for not having a defense, have proven especially strong in this category since the arrival of John Tortorella! Although scoring and lack of power play numbers still continue to hamper this team, the Rangers seem do be doing "enough" scoring to win games. If you would have asked me if I thought the Rangers would be up 3 games to 1 in this series, against the 3rd most offensively powerful team in the league, I would have bet everything against it. I know there aren't too many hockey fans in this forum--I just wanted to write this to vent my absolute delight and express my pride for the Rangers!

I haven't followed hockey since I was a kid. But when I was a fan, I was a Rangers fan. Although I don't follow it regularly as I do with football and baseball, I'm always rooting for the Rangers to succeed, so I'm also delighted to see them up 3-1. Now we just need them to close it out and move to the next round. I DO NOT want to see a collapse like the 2004 Yankees.

Tough game last night--SVB, your boys certainly don't quit. Rangers can close it out tomorrow at MSG in front of the Blueshirt faithful.

I hope you keep LOL'ing because Big O had a had trick last night. We are finally getting revenge on the Penguins after years and years of them whooping us in the playoffs. This also has to be the one year I could care less but hey...it happens. I was really into the Caps when they dominated back in 99-2000....and then lost to the Penguins in the playoffs.

Looks like the Caps are ready to hand the Rangers another ass whooping this year with a 3-1 lead in the series and getting ready for the game clincher Saturday night in Washington DC.

Rock the Red.....

I knew it was going to be a challenge for the Rangers, but I was still hoping they could get it together. They're giving these games away.

Rangers have beaten Washington in the 2012 playoffs already, but I don't think there was another hockey thread and I didn't think there would be much dialogue to create a new one.

Simply wanted to say that the Rangers are frustrating me each time I watch, even when they win. They don't make it easy on themselves, but I really hope they beat the Devils in both games 6 and 7 to move on to the Stanley Cup finals.

I'm amazed at what they've done. 8th seed and they've coasted through to the finals. Remarkable.

Well, i wouldn't say coasted per se. That last game was hard played and won in overtime. However, note that they had a great record on the road ~ at home ~ not so much. But, yeah - the Canucks and Coyote's did seem too easy.

Don't forget the Blues -- they swept them. I don't deny that there were some tough, hard-fought games in there, but the Kings mowed down the #1/#2/#3 seeds. Amazing.

I'm pretty heated that the Rangers lost, but I still wish good luck to the Devils and Kings in the finals.

Ha ha nice one. Yeah, at least they got half a season in. Happy about that. Now I need to see the Rangers whip up on Boston. They are currently down 0-1 (best of 7 series).

Funny stuff about the lockout. I'd hate to feel like a championship was tainted by a shortened season. Like the NBA Spurs in 99 or something. Maybe the Knicks would have never even made it that close. There were still a good team.

Wow, no talk about hockey playoffs this year. I guess since SVB's Capitals were not invited to the party, all has been quiet. Dr. M's Kings made an astounding comeback in first round against San Jose. I was rooting for the Sharks, but I shouldn't be surprised they choked. Rangers go the distance in first round to beat the Flyers -- good!! I HATE the Flyers, probably the most of all of they're opponents. Round 2 - Yeah bitches!! Down 3-1, Rangers win 3 straight to advance to the next round. Bring on Bruins or Habs!

I don't watch it often, but invariably its entertaining when I do.
I know hockey isn't for everyone, but it can be exciting.
One friend I know is a huge CRAPITALS err, Capitals fan, but he has been silent since they haven't done much this year.

Fellow board member "meatbag" likes hockey, and in fact plays fantasy. But his spring and summers are taken up with his kids, so he isn't around much.

Don't know where SVB's boy NYR has been lately.

While I would have preferred to take on Chicago in the Final, I believe this Rangers team matches up well with LA. If we use our speed and skating prowess to our advantage, I believe it may be enough to carry us through. Defensively, you'd be hard pressed to find a better three pairings than what the Rangers have and I believe Lundqvist is the best goaltender in the series. As long as we can stay out of the box, don't get worn down by LA's size and grit, cycle the puck and play our game, I see the Blueshirts taking this series in six games. Lundqvist needs to steal at least one of these games, and I think he starts with game one on Wednesday night. LGR!

 I was in Chicago, for a neice's graduation, during the Blackhawks/Kings series. Went to a sports bar and saw all those fired up Blackhawks fans. But it seemed we were bad luck. The Blackhawks went down to 1-3 in the series until we came back to Georgia. But they came back only to lose in OT in the final game. Don't know who to root for to help out NYR 94. :ROTF:

Well, the Rangers did ZERO of what I said they had to in order to raise the Cup. We may take game four tonight and lose in LA in game five, but nothing more. Rangers blew their two goal leads one too many times, took bad penalties and couldn't keep the foot on the pedal for a full game. As a result, they'll either get swept or outed 4 games to 1; either way, an embarassing end to an otherwise solid and prideful season. Truth be told, I had zero confidence we'd make it past Pittsburgh, so this NYR team definitely overachieved. Nash was his usual invisible self and Brad Richards is playing in his final game(s) as a Blueshirt. Sather and company will have a lot of two things this off season: a butt-load of available cap room and many holes to fill. Hopefully he will use some of that money to purchase some size and grit--add some definitive role players to the mix so our scorers and skill guys can be left alone to worry about what they do best: skate and score.

Couldn't agree with you more. It's been so frustrating watching them squander those leads. I'll bitch about the officiating too because honestly, there were some non-calls that hurt the Rangers, but overall, they still needed to hold down those leads regardless. I'll watch tonight's game just to see if they prolong the torture.

The torture will continue...8-0 in elimination games, so there's that.

Congrats to the Kings, ya bastards! The way the Rangers played this series, they could've won 4-1, but the biggest problem for them, aside from some poor officiating was they couldn't close. Some really bad turnovers, lack of puck control and LA luck killed their chances. Hope they bring this playoff experience to next season and win the damn thing!

Rangers down 3 games to 1 to Washington and they forged ahead to win 3 straight. Go Blueshirts! Bring on the Bolts.

The Capitals need to just fade away forever and stop trying. This Rangers Capitals feud eats away at my soul. :(
