Yeah its a little early.

But I got an email today from Yahoo regarding fantasy this year and it read...

Yahoo! Fantasy Football is coming.
And it's better than ever.

MAY 30th

More new ways to strategize, smack talk & stay connected.
Only on the #1 Fantasy Football game.

I don't quite know what this means, but I'm guessing some major changes to Yahoo and its fantasy structure.
There are already mock drafts going on in a few places, including ESPN.

I personally hope they don't change anything drastic at Yahoo, I have always liked the setup and the simple layout and features.
I do know this is by far the earliest they have gotten the ball rolling as far as "opening" the football section. (especially the drafts, if they in fact open mocks this early)

The mock draft lobbies are now up and running during limited hours. (I don't think they run from around 12 midnight until around 8 am, but that's a rough guess)

Can't say I noticed any major changes, but I am sure there are a few little things that I guess we shall see once we get to our own team and league pages.

I personally like the layout of ffcalculator, and how it shows a block graph of the entire draft above. Right as you are there drafting it continually updates.
Handy tool that lets you track the whole draft just as it unfolds, and lets you see each team as it is building.

I had one league on ESPN last season, and I didn't much like their drafting layout at all.
Still haven't used CBS either.

I'm old school, and can deal with Yahoo I suppose, I just wonder what new "changes" they have in store.

I will continue the other thread here............................

Within the last 48 hours, Ahmad Bradshaw has signed on with the Colts, and oddly enough the deal was "largely" done on Twitter supposedly. (obviously not the legal aspects and signatures etc)

That guy seems to always be fired up, but sadly he can't quite shake the foot injuries, unless of course he overcomes them this season.
I don't know how fantasy useful he will really be at this point, but its a decent scenario there for him.
It seems that the Colts aren't too high on Ballard, and obviously Delone Carter or Donald Brown. One will likely be released by the time the season starts.

Wonder what Lazy thinks of seeing a member of his G-Men go to the Colts.
They have their own issues at WR right now too though. I do think Hakeem Nicks reported this week to workouts, though Victor Cruz is still holding out.

Tebow to the Patriots............. LOL. I don't see any significant role, other than some possible goal line work or possibly even slotting him in at tight end.

I'm feeling worse and worse for Public Menace's beloved Raiders.
They are looking to have an atrocious season.
Damn shame too, as if Denarius Moore could learn to actually run a route, I think he is a top talent.
Maybe they will be better than expected.

Always loved Bradshaw's grittiness, but I think his time is just about done. So, though I hate to see him go, I'm glad he won a couple Super Bowls with the Giants, and glad to see him catch on somewhere. Honestly, I'm looking forward to seeing them run with David Wilson. Hopefully his potential continues to shine, feeding off last season.

I'm interested to see how my Titans will do this season. I feel like they've made solid moves this offseason. Now it's about what they can do to put it all together.

Raiders will have a tough time, particularly because of Denver. I also don't think KC will be as awful as they were last season. San Diego -- bleh.

I think we should vote for Aaron Hernandez for idiot of the year.

Its a sad case for him, the more that comes to light, the more it seems he was involved somehow in this murder.

Its rather odd, as in the past couple of seasons the Patriots organization has "stood by him" and he even attended many charity events and such.
But with more and more smoke appearing, there's almost certainly fire, and it seems like he was involved.
(The organization is now trying to distance themselves from him and this mess it appears)

Bad on the fantasy front too, as with Gronk's health issues going into the season and the loss of Brandon Lloyd, Hernandez was in a prime position to be a top tier TE this season if he could stay healthy.

Well, as I expected Aaron Hernandez is now pretty much out of the NFL for good. (at least this season, and he would still have to be proven innocent, and that certainly doesn't look like its going to happen)

And for the first time in many years, the Patriots are not chock full of fantasy gold this year.
In fact many of the remaining few are pretty "high risk" if you ask me.

With the "question marks" at WR and TE, it even looks as though Tom Brady himself will go down a few notches.
I am betting they try and acquire another solid WR before the season approaches.

Isn't Aaron Hernandez the guy with the "killer instinct" that so many teams are looking for? He's a free agent and wouldn't his numbers on the prison team be magnificent? :|

We've had this PTE league for years now.

It started on an old board (many know where)...... but its pretty much evolved into an annual tradition in many ways.

No biggie if you don't want to participate Shatners grim reaper/SGR.
Watch this section (a few threads) come alive once the NFL season rolls around.

In fact, there are a few members who don't really post much otherwise, but are here pretty regular once the league/football season starts.
Personally, I can't wait~!

Yes we are. I'm just slow on the setup. Haven't even set up my other one yet. I'll be getting to it soon, as we will have to determine a good draft date and time for all involved (plus lock in just exactly who is in this year).

Muy excellente.

Now we'll give it a few more days, and if I need to I can call DrMoreau.
The rest of the lot should be filtering into the league soon.

Lazy already knows, but fellow board member "meatbag" is now going to be a part of our league. (he is currently out of town, but should be signing up in the next 7-10 days days)
Its been ages since he posted here, but me and also fellow board member Alsunday know and play poker with "meatbag" fairly regularly, and he will make a nice fit into the league.
Perhaps the coming fantasy season will drag him around the board a bit more.

2 spots remain open - Dr. M and SVB. I know Dr. M has been unavailable but I expect him to join soon (perhaps after TZ DZ gets a call in to him). The big question mark is SVB - will you be returning this season bro? Let us know and I'll send you the invite.

DrM has been notified by text..............look to hear from him in the next few days.
You may want to shoot him a PM or invite too, just as a reminder.

I haven't seen SVB here in a few weeks or so, you might want to send him an invite, and just see what happens.
Perhaps he has email access and just hasn't been to the board recently but thats merely a guess.

With news of Dr. M not making it this season, I will send my cousin an invite to see if he still wants in for this season. He took SVB's spot last year.

SVB....still waiting to hear from ya brah.

I see we are currently sitting on 9 teams in the PTE league.

Lazy, any word from SVB??? I see he has been here a couple times in the past week, though he may be accessing the board on a cell phone.
Or perhaps you have another manager waiting in the wings if no one comes forward in the next week or so.

Perhaps we can still persuade DrM (though doubtful), or perhaps we can nudge Shatner's Grim Reaper into playing????

To SGR, this is a $20 per team league, so it is worth the effort if you are interested.

No word from SVB about rejoining the league. I DO have someone who would play, as his money league fell through this season. So if I don't get any confirmation about anyone here wanting to grab the final league spot, then I will enlist my guy.

Ok Lazy, welcome to our "Two Outer" league. I see you are in now.
( good to see the "Dark Horse" name in another league)

Image

Just so you know, my team there is "The Rebuyers" , and Alsunday's team is the "Usual Suspects".
Glad you are aboard.
I believe we have 8 signed up currently, with another saying he will join.
The plan is for 10, and we are looking for one more team to seal it up.

By the way, seeing as DrM won't be participating this year (as he was our lone west coast player).......... is there still any reason to still have the draft so late / 9:30 p.m. ??

I personally would like to move it back to 7:30-8:00 if possible, so we can still have time to do things afterwards.
Even 8:30 would be better for me.

But realistically I won't miss it either way, and will be there.

I was just figuring we were having it later to help out our West Coast team and since DrM isn't going to be involved, going to a slightly earlier time might actually be better for us all.

What do you guys think? Pipe up guys, the draft is less than a week away now.

Very true -- I will check in with some of the other members on my end to make sure no one is stuck late at work, so if all is good, I will make it earlier (anywhere from 7:30 to 8:30pm EST).

Still no word from SVB - I will give him until Tuesday or Wednesday to grab hold of the team and speak up; if silence remains, I will get my co-worker in.

Ok so checked in with people -- earliest I can make the draft is 9pm, one member won't get home until 8:30, so want there to be buffer time to prepare and get online for the draft.

See you guys at the draft this Friday (8/23) at 9pm!

Ok boys, one more day to go.

Lazy,I guess you will have to get your other manager into the league to take DrM's (or SVB's) spot seeing as it looks like they will not play this year.

I will likely be around tomorrow night, maybe if anyone is interested we can meet in the board chatroom here an hour or so before the draft if anyone is so inclined.

Well, the 6th year of PTE Fantasy football is now under way.... as the draft was Friday night.

I have heard from "meatbag"/Plow Kings in text last night, he missed the draft. He is relatively happy with his team though, so all is well.

Anyone got any thoughts on the draft or their team?

Considering I have made the playoffs in this league every year (barring one) since its inception in 2007..............

You sir, must be smoking some good ganja this morning.

Coincidentally, the only year I did NOT make the playoffs, was the only year that YOU DID, 2011.
On that note, you and I played one time that season. That was week 6 and you beat me 96-79.

Since I finished one game out of the playoffs in 5th spot that year, I guess you could say you helped knock me out of the playoffs.
I'm still pissed ..... :ROTF:

Don't feel bad, I got a D+ in this league. (the worst grade out of the lot) The best part of that is, I see offhand AT LEAST 6 teams I would not swap with, and thats just looking casually.

I'm pretty sure that grading is tied in to their ADP rankings. Which is a good guideline for some people, but thats about all that is, a good guideline.

It's based on projected fantasy points...so essentially, yes, just guidelines. Honestly, just a fun read; kind of like the weekly news reports following each week. Well hope you post some good weekly rants this season.

Yeah, the report cards are fun to look over. I suppose they can be useful, especially to people new to fantasy.
On that note, there is a guy in our other league you are in who is new to fantasy.
He was a little bit "concerned" that he got a bad report card grade in that league.

Not that he was bitching, just more it was on his mind.
I told him to read it over and think about what he may or may not have done differently in the draft that would have affected his team, and in essence his "report card". So I know it can help in that sense.
He actually drafted a ton of Redskins, which I won't comment on, other than if the skins have a bad day that pretty much kills you in fantasy.

On that note- did you check out Tony's Tigers team in that league???
How is this for an AUTO PICK DRAFT....

QB Drew Brees, WRs Vincent Jackson Hakeem Nicks Randall Cobb, RBs Doug martin MJD ,TE Jason Witten , K Matt Bryant , Defense SF and STL , Bench spots ......Tony Romo DeAngelo Williams Anquan Boldin Michael Floyd Jordan Cameron

Easily one of the best auto-pick drafts I have seen, in a real money league, not a mock.

I seriously doubt I will do the rants this season I am still dealing with some personal issues, and won't likely get it cleared up for a few months.
They were fun to do, but seriously time consuming, and I just don't have the time currently.

Yeah and I play TonysTigers Week 1! Just my luck....

It'll be a good matchup nonetheless. Of course he has the same two starting RBs I have in my other league so it's going to be a bitch of a week.

Not a problem about the rants, I know you put a lot into them. Use your time towards what needs it the most.

Even though I played with the pre-draft rankings a little bit, missing the draft (not intentional) was no problem for the Plow Kings. I have an over-tendency to tinker but this lineup should be good to start. Thanks for having me in your league!

Do you like your team this year Whit? Do you like your chances for a return to the playoffs? Just missed out on a little cash last season.

Yes, I think I'm very strong at QB and RB but without any big-name WRs. I also think my TEs have the potential to break big as they scored 20 TDs last year between the two of them.

How about you?

It will be fun watching the rest of you scramble for the remaining 3 playoff spots.

I loaded up on rbs in all my drafts this year, and it didn't seem hurt my teams in the slightest.

On the tight ends............. if you don't have one of the premiere TEs this season, there's about 8-9 directly behind the top 4-5, and they are all pretty much about the same if you ask me. (or should have similar numbers)

I waited on Jared Cook, but Sudfeld should be a big play the first 4 weeks of the season or so.
I always thought Cook was over hyped, but he always had the skill set and build, and now he is on a team where they might actually try and use him to his fullest, unlike in the past. He never seemed to get much attention with the Titans.
I actually targeted him in this league, opting to wait and stack up elsewhere.
Other players I targeted in this league : David Wilson, Chris Ivory and Josh Gordon.

Will this be also for discussing the upcoming football season or will there be a separate NFL 2013 season thread for that?

You can create a thread for that if you like Anthony, but I don't see a problem with it in this thread either to be honest.
Another thread may be a better fit for continuity though.
