The Quest Team are out on a rescue mission and end up having to save Dr. Quest too.

I love how Quest comes in and tries to introduce a new god into the Po-Ho pantheon with failed results. Race and the boys come up with a less then ingenious but still successful. Best thing, we get to see Race dyed purple for a few weeks.

Not a bad episode, but it does have a few points that detract a bit from it.

Most notably, the scene where the boat is used to yank Dr. Quest out of the fire pit.
I think that this was overdone a bit, when I think back about the episode.

True, this IS a cartoon, and I can easily get "lost" into most of the Quest adventures, but this action was more of a stretch than some of what goes on.

Still tons of great Quest action in this one.

I like the jungle setting, and the idea of the "Po-Ho" in general was a good one.

Hadji is becoming a more defined character here, and even little Bandit seems to be a bit more of a presence.

Gets a respectable 5 from me.
I can only imagine what people (and kids) thought of this show years ago. This is like a whole new cutting edge exciting set of tales, set in a great cartoon setting, and even today it holds up very well.
Give me this over the new garbage any day of the week.

Agreed. But at least Dr. Quest suffered from a broken arm from his land body-surfing experience.

There are just some slapped together and :wtf: moments that truly detract from the entire episode and the rest of the series for that matter. Not one of my favorites by any means. Another thing that always bothered me about this episode was that Dr. Quest is the only other non Po-Ho person besides Dr. Hartman who can speak, Po-Ho? Really? I guess Dreena, Dr. Hartman's wife, is just wasting her time there?

I like "Pursuit of the Po-Ho" but it's kind of a sloppily put together cartoon. The normal Quest gadgetry is sorely missing and this is a lot talker than the previous three episodes. I can't seem to let go of the fact that Dr. Hartman's wife calls Quest after her husband has been captured, either. Quest and crew fly there immediately but wasn't there anyone closer to help with a rescue? I do like that Race paints himself purple to become a Po-Ho god.

My rating: 5 - Good

There is one particular scene in this one with Race coming out of the water, disguised as "Aquiezio".

You might be interested to know that this scene has been censored, even on the current DVD release.

If you look here ~~~~~> http://pushingtheenvelope.freeforums.or ... t1284.html

Go to part 13, which is "More secrets about the show". It explains this scene, and yet another in which there is a bit of censoring.

As mentioned, you literally see a man falling to his death in one scene, but you can't defame his nationality while he falls. :wtf:

All in all a decent episode, but as most of us agree, not a great one.
