Greetings All,

It has been pointed out to me that in case anyone would like to Unregister their account here, there is no little button to check. That is because it is part of the Administrators options not available to Members or Moderators. Although we will all be sad to see you leave, here is how to accomplish this task.

Simply send me a PM: I would like to Unregister from PtE

No further explanation is required. I am sure many people have their reasons, both private and personal, and we would like to respect each individuals decision and comply accordingly.
Please note: Once your account has been deleted there is no way of reactivating it without having to re-register. All karma and post counts will start anew.

Happy Posting & Have Fun,

Phineas J. Whoopee

Note: Unfortunately, I can not go through and delete all of your posts here for various reasons including time restraints. If there are posts that serve no purpose for the greater good, I will delete those.

No, really . . . you've had members who wanted to "unregister"?

Amazing!

Actually I had one member on my own board who asked to be removed from the members list because he felt he had been insulted by other members of the board. I did what he requested after I told him I was sorry he would be leaving us.

I've always regretting doing this. By removing him as a member, I closed the door on any possible resolution of the misunderstanding between him and the members who offended him.

Phineas, I urge you to avoid the mistake I made. Do not delete members from Pushing the Envelope -- even when they request it. Just politely express your regret for their dissatisfaction, and tell them that their future contributions will be missed.

After all, your removal of them from the members' list will not delete their previous posts. But if you don't delete them and they ever decide to come back, the door will still be open.

This was a lesson I learned the hard way. I hope you won't have to learn it like I did.

Well, to date, we have had, I believe, just 2 members decide to unregister. As much as we do really hate to see anyone leave, I think Phineas had it correct 4 years ago. If you want to leave, who are we to try to hold them or their account hostage. In most cases, people will venture off and return at their leisure when feelings or situations in their lives have calmed without a big to-do. But, again, to each their own.

Just my 2 cents.
