And with my screening of the final series entry, "The Sentry", I now bid farewell to my extended "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" viewing party. I have now watched, rated and reviewed all 20 episodes and I have to admit, the series that scared the crap out of me as a wee 9-year old, did no such thing this time around.

However, I still love this series for its characters, situations and imagination. The nostalgic charge that this series had given me still remains, even though it is not the fright-filled wonder it was in my youth.

I can definitely see how this series planted a seed in the mind of X-Files creator Chris Carter. It is truly a wild ride, with it's B-movie horror and almost comic book delivery. Their cheap production values and formulaic structure kind of wore on me by the end, but again I still love them for their imagination and their goofy charms.

Here's my favorite episodes (not counting the pre-series movies):
"Horror In the Heights"
"The Zombie"
"The Spanish Moss Murders"
"The Knightly Murders"
"Mr. R.I.N.G."

I don`t think this the best tv- series made, but i wish they could have filmed at least 1 more season. Carl, Tony and Ron was in my opinion great characters. I really like the whistling opening theme.

Kolchak the Movie?

Disney is in negotiations with Johnny Depp to play the Big Screen version of everyone's favorite tabloid reporter - Carl Kolchak.

I found this info while perusing the web and noticed a very familiar image ... hmmm, I wonder where they lifted it from :D

Sorry if I am repeating myself, but the same guys that created the amazing "Thriller A Day" and "We Are Controlling Transmission (Outer Limits)" blogs also recently completed a Kolchak blog called "It Couldn't Happen Here".

You can find it at http://akolchakaday.blogspot.com/2012/02/your-quick-reference-guide-to-it.html
