Sad note, a friend of mine was just mentioning him at my poker game last night.

Russell was a great guy by all accounts and like many, was great in signing autographs for fans through the mail to boot.
(though he did charge a token amount, and also sold his own stuff)

He included a few extras when I sent to him some years ago, and one picture still stands out.

He enclosed one crisp 8x10 of him in Gilligan's Island, thats a famous shot of him "teaching" and explaining things to a gorilla.
He signed it "The education of Scott *(my last name)* continues...." :ROTF:

Many old actors don't much care to be remembered for one specific role, especially one like his in Gilligan's Island, but he actually embraced it over the years.

A terrible loss and he was truly one of the greats.

That's pretty damn cool.

Yes, sad news to hear about RJ. I enjoyed him as the Professor as well as his stints on TZ. Goodnight Mr. Johnson.

RIP

Lest we forget: he appeared in the original Outer Limits, "Specimen Unknown."

According to press reports, he often said some variation of the following: "On
Gilligan's Island the Professor was so smart he could make a radio out of coconuts, but he couldn't fix a hole in their boat!"

So it goes.

That's pretty funny, and so true.
