At the time many of you finally read this, our country has re-elected Obama.

This board has been eerily silent about this election this year for some odd reason.

As for my thoughts??????????

When asked if I would vote for Romney or Obama, I answered none of the above.

I don't really believe Romney was the guy to try and get this country out of the mess we seem to have sunken into (from the little I've seen of him)..... but I don't think another 4 years of Obama is going to do the trick either.

Ah, this go around I was Hoping for Change, but it looks like in another few years I will be hoping I have some change left. :(

Bitch, whine or applaud below...........

November 6th or December 21, 2012???

I've been quiet because I've been on the road these past few months. Let's face it, times are bad all over.
Why people still look at Obama as some messiah to the political forefront is beyond me. Let's face it people, he was rich before becoming President and he will be after he leaves office. Same for Romney. In my lifetime, I don't believe a non millionaire or "Financially Secure" has ever successfully been nominated let alone won. What do any of these candidates truly have in common with the Average American other than the fact that they were - possibly - born here in the states?

Summary: Same Shite with Different or Familiar Faces.

I've concentrated more on my local state politics. Same loonies and reckless people are still getting elected. Fear tactics win props - vote this tax hike in or we are going to gut 6 Billion from education. Porn industry must use condoms to work in this state for public health -- I guess they'll just move over to Nevada and cost California another billion dollars loss of revenue.

Diane Fienstein wins again -- this is the same woman who wanted to give illegals the "right" to have drivers licenses where citizens aren't guaranteed squat because driving is a privilege. She also voted that people from other countries - legal or illegally here in California - pay a lower college tuition than Californians :wtf:

When even Democrats are so sick of the bad politics here that they run against another Dem and lose do to dirty campaigning it should be a wake-up call - should be?

Bitch, rant, this space for rent, bitch, rant.

Yeah it's always the same shite, isn't it? What was it that George Carlin said? I believe it was that he doesn't vote, because it's meaningless. "This country was bought and sold a long time ago", was another quote of his on politics and I'm starting to agree with him.

Speaking of politics and elections, I had a question for you guys about this last election. I heard two more states made gay marriage legal and two states legalized marijuana. According to this article I was reading, Colorado and Washington legalized marijuana and same-sex marriage is now legal in Maine and Maryland. You know, I'm for gay people getting married, but my question is why would anyone want to, at least without a good pre nup? Most marriages end in divorce and men historically get screwed over in divorce court, so I always thought gay couples had it good, because they could just be together without all that legal bull shite. If I were gay, I'd probably live in a state where marriage is still illegal. I say make all marriage illegal, or at the very least, give the divorce laws a severe overhaul to make them actually equal. I always thought the whole point of feminism was equality, but at some point, it seems to have become about superiority and it also seems like society treats you like you have no right to complain simply because you're a white male in America. How much do you want to bet that if things were reversed, you'd hear all kinds of complaints from women and women's groups about marriage laws, but if guys ask for equality, we're somehow called sexist. This pretty much sums up to me how I feel about the marriage laws:

If that last long link doesn't work, just type into Youtube Bill Burr: Why He Won't Get Married.

He's right, there's no reasoning and no justification for it. If someone ran on that platform, I'd vote for him. Either that or whoever has more money gets screwed over in a divorce.

As for legalizing marijuana, I say go for it. People say it's dangerous and unhealthy, but so are cigarettes and booze, yet those are legal, so just do what we do with those things, make them legal, keep raising the price and tax the hell out of them. Every state should just make drugs, gambling and prostitution legal. That would bring down the deficit in no time.

I registered to vote months after I had already made the decision to NOT vote for a president last tuesday...which is what I did. That was like satisfaction to myself. So many people just voted for all the wrong reasons..I just wanted no part of it.

Dry land is not a myth! Ive seen it!

You have lots of company. 3 million fewer votes for Romney/Ryan than McCain/Palin. 10 million fewer voters for ObaMAO since the 2008 elections.

I haven't been here much at all lately because I have switched jobs.

I wanted to concentrate on avoiding distractions that will keep me from doing the best job I can.

That way, I can make more money so politicians can take even more from me so others can choose to do nothing.

Who is John Galt?

We will have to prepare for the ff.

1. peak oil, following the IEA acknowledgement last year, the BP report on conventional oil production not catching up with demand, and the Morgan Stanley forecast of negative spare capacity soon (oil production put online within a month and that can be used for three months; usually used only for emergencies);

2. more credit crunches because of over a quadrillion dollars in unregulated derivatives (financial instruments that are in essence bets made on bets, and not reported to governments, but may cause large banks to fall apart if speculators panic) and increasing debt worldwide;

3. environmental damage and the effects of climate change (crop destruction in the US and in Russia, business and mining disruption in Thailand and in Spain, floods in Pakistan, etc.).

And the three problems leading to high food and oil prices, unemployment, and greater tension between countries, among citizens (e.g., the Arab Spring, protests and riots across Europe, etc.).

I voted proudly in the last presidential election (never mind for whom), but I didn't vote in the recent one. There didn't seem much point.

In retrospect, there wasn't much point to vote in the last one. The only president I can think of who should have served longer than he did was . . . John F. Kennedy.

He got his head blown off before he finished his first term. Admittedly, he was no saint -- but I think he was bitten by the "Buck Rogers" bug when he was a kid, and he wanted to make America a country in which hopeful young astronauts studied hard in school and joined NASA to boldly go where no man had gone before -- even before Gene Roddenberry wanted this.

America's space program energized America and inspired the world. Our technological achievements surged ahead and energized the world's economy.

Today our space program is virtually gone, our technological achievements barely keep up with those of other countries, and the world's economy is on the verge of collapse.

I can't help but wonder what the world today would be like if JFK had ducked at the right moment in Dallas and lived in the White House for eight years, encouraging American youth to find their own futures . . . by looking to the stars.

I think the world of 2012 would look a lot more like I thought it would back in 1958 -- when I was just ten years old.

Well, if you ever invent a way back machine, try and head back and save JFK and maybe we could find out for sure. Well written post, Bud.
