Yeah, I know this is an odd topic.
Yet, here goes, I was shopping for clothes at JCpenney's Department Store, and I noticed many tables of brightly colored dress shirts, ( looked like a fruit bowl , with bright peach, lemon yellow, oranges, limes, apple red, etc...), I am looking at them at the table, then I look around and not one man I see is wearing them. To my recollection, I do not remember seeing many men wear these neon sign like shirts. I also see these type of shirts on sale at Express 21.

So I am wondering: Are they selling these shirts in your region? I am in the Midwest myself.

Further, have you noticed it is getting harder to find clothes you like in stores?

Thanks.

 I really don't buy clothes that often. Maybe once a year. I usually go for geezer central type general clothes. So I go to Department stores that don't usually cater much to the young crowd. Sorry. :|

Do not be sorry, I am not one of them kids myself. I do shop at the big box department stores too.
You just may be right, the mall does seem to aims for a much younger crowd; yet, I do not even see young people buying these clothes. And alot of the clothes that they seem to target for older crowd, I do not see people wearing either, but it seems to be on all their hangers. Its like a TZ episode, whos buying these odd bowling shirts? Where are they?

I think a lot of younger people do wear those clothes, we just don't hang around in the places where they congregate.

I am sure we do not :D LOL

Yet, when I look around the mall, I do not see anyone wearing anything remotely like what they sell. And I see people of all ages in the mall.
And, I go to the library, Barnes N Noble, restaurants, pharmacies, grocerie stores, etc, where people of ALL ages go, and nada.

Maybe they are for obscure clubs, but what a Niche market for them to display them so readily, and so abundantly. And they are not much difference in price from the more subdued shirts that they hide away. ( Maybe they are trying get rid of them LOL) I just do not know who buys them.

Plus, alot of clothes I see at Kohls and JcPenney and Sear for men look like this:

Image

I will see them on the rack, from the back, and think wow these look nice, then turn them around, and its either Charlie Harper Bowling shirts, or Magnum PI flowery shirts. Again, I rarely see anyone wear them, maybe the Hipster crowd in some clubs. But seldom if ever on street. Do you see these above shirts worn?

TY in advance.

Yep - I see the bowling shirts above worn.
The fruit basket style in the initial post I see in the "Alternative Lifestyle" districts but not main stream.

Also Mr.Z realize that every year this tends to happen.....and you may have never realized it before.

When early Spring rolls around and into Summer, all the stores (especially department type store) tend to advertise the lighter and brighter colors, in an effort to sell them.
People tend to wear lighter cooler clothes in Spring and Summer, and they tend to wear darker colors in the colder months.

Regardless of whichever you wear and when, just be aware that those are the sales directions on clothing.

Personally I don't wear too much brighter stuff, and I never really have to be honest.

Merci Dr. M,

You clarified a thing or 2, ty.

Thanks TZ DZ Fan,

Yeah, I see the trend of people wearing bright colors in summer each year too, but usually up here its T shirts and tanks, not the bold fruit bowl dress shirts.
I do not see them worn, but Dr. M has a point its perhaps the "Alternative Lifestyle" wearing them, ( "Not that there is anything wrong with that"Seinfeld).

I too wear dark clothes, as do a lot of men I see here, so this bright trend is odd to me.

Z

Had a weekend down in Georgia this past weekend -- it was bloody hot and humid, so I most definitely sported a pink striped shirt with pink/gray/silver tie -- gotta stay cool.
