There is a speedway about 1/2 hour from me at $2.25. A few others are at $2.26. The gas prices seem to keep dropping alot.

Hope this is a trend for all states.

i live like 15 miles from Greensboro,NC. everything here in Randleman, and Asheboro (just a couple miles south of here) is like 12 to 20 cents higher here than it is in Greensboro....never seen it like that before. maybe a few cents, but not that much.

Sorry to hear about this, sir.

It was $2.34 @ Speedway gas station near my town ( which is way west of Detroit).
The Speedway towards Detroit is $2.18. Advantages of living dangerously haha.

Dr. M, I found this website, let me know what you think.

I usually go Shell or Cheveron - better gas. But the Arco's in the Pasadena Area I do frequent.

Crimeny! Glad I filled up yesterday at $2.20 because today on the paper route the same QT raised it .11cents, now at $2.31!!! :wtf:
It has been going down steadily for weeks and now a big jump, I don't get it. That is why I try and keep the car filled, although yesterday it was a bit below the half tank mark. I usually fill it most nights on the paper route before they raise it in the am.
Although, like I say, it has been going down so I have been playing this little game of every other day, but guess I will go back to every day now....

Don't be sad, please. I was out in Cali, it was $3.11. I pray oil prices drop for all. Thins I am doing to cut costs:
1. stopped using my AC, 2. conserved on water sprinkler. 3. Eating in. For starters.

I feel I am becoming the PR for this webiste, sorry, yet check for your state:

You guys get it sweet compared to the UK. Currently:

106.9 pence per litre working out to about $1.75

That means it's...

486p a gallon or around $7

Ouch, when are you moving to USA? :D

I hear in some parts of the world, they raise the oil prices, so less people drive, thus less traffic, also less air pollution. I do not know if its true.
Does this sound right, where you are?

Not really, the fuel is heavily taxed here. See this.
You're right in as much as they claim it is to reduce pollution, force people to use public transport, etc. The problem is that public transport is crap and more expensive in the long term. The tax is meant to be used to maintain the roads and fund public transport. I sincerely doubt it is.

This is truly sad, Mr. Serling. I pray for some relief for all of you. This must hit the poor ( does 'skint' mean tight on cash?) the worst.
They should reduce the price of the transit system, due to higher demand.
Too bad about your transit system; it is awful where I live, we have no public rail system, busses only are used in the most heavily populated areas,
cabs are expensive, the shopping infrastructure here is poor; they make it where almost you have to have an automobile.

Yeah, the government haven't a clue. They drop VAT (tax on goods) then raise fuel duty. Don't they realise you need fuel to transport goods to stores? This means no actual reduction of price (why would stores bother with such a small reduction?) but possibly an increase due to transportation costs.

I just realised that you guys have it different in stores to us. Our listed prices include VAT whereas you guys list without tax, then add it at the cash register. It's all a con really. Or should that be incompetence from a socialist government?

Oh, skint means short of cash :) In fact, the implication is that they have no money at all.

Such a vicious cycle, which leads to inflation. They should at least give incentives to those who use mass transit, or walk or bike, those people
should get commercial discounts on goods and labor.

Thanks for the english lesson, :D

The problem is driven by peak oil. It's been reported that oil companies have spent double the amount the last few years to find new oil but could barely find enough. That's why the price per barrel is three times what it should be.

The gas prices used to irk me a little bit too..... but realistically what are you going to do.????
I'll tell you what, you are going to pay it and go on about your life.

For most Americans, "quitting driving" is not much of an option.

When my friend Gwen over in the Netherlands told me what the gas prices normally go for over there, I ceased my negative thoughts on the prices here.

It is always good to stay positive, its better for our total well being imho :D

Yes, we got it better than some other countries, that is a plus. For the initiated ( wish I was more), there are sites to show
where to get cheaper gas. like gasbuddy.com, one gas station near my house is 3.39, thats down almost 20 cents from last time I reported. Sound the bells :bell: :D

I am not saying this will last, I wish it would; yet, at least that price is way better than 3. 69 at another neighboring gas station.

Keep on smiling :D

Gas prices are manipulated by huge corporations who still ( !! ) get gigantic tax breaks despite record massive profits due in part to fracking and use environmental concerns as excuses for ripping off the driver that are about as meaningful as a fig leaf on a stripper. The pipeline from Canada will take Canadian oil across the middle of the USA, with it's attendant risks of leaks while creating only 500 (five hundred) permanent jobs and take 100% of that oil and ship it to Communist China. This is not an internet meme or made up anti-hate radio propaganda, it is real facts varifiable through easy research. Try the Wall Street Journal, a Rupert Murdock GOP organ, for facts and go from there. IT IS NOT A PIPELINE THAT MAKES MANY U.S. JOBS OR LOWERS GAS PRICES. Sad. True.

Fracking injects liquids the oil companies keep secret which apparently are causing earth tremors, perhaps soon major quakes in areas free from this geologic activity for millions of years. Fracking has ALMOST made the USA a total oil exporter. Yes, the fracked oil is sold overseas and is never refined or used in this country so your pump price continues to rise. Does it really take a financial, geological or political genius to see this simple fact that is easily checked by researching oil shipments from fracking sites in the USA to tankers that take it from USA ports to overseas?

In Los Angeles, my Berlinetta Interceptor gets 13 miles to the gallon and I pay for gas at over $4.50 a gallon all year. On the other hand, I drive around 4,000 miles a year, admittedly many of those miles at extreme speed, but not the national average or even a 1000 miles a month. My guilt stops here.

The constant election of pro-Big Oil politicians is the problem. Not the guy who can only stock his gas station from those monsters who dictate his pump price.

Elon Musk, called "Iron Man" from the comix by the press, has his own space program and electric car factory for his "Tesla." Unfortunately, Musk's car is so expensive, only guilty celebs and the rich can afford it--so far. His private space program does so much better for humankind.

Many say the electric car is the answer. I say no; the battery tech is just not there--and won't be for decades. The Fuel Cell, which saw first use in Project Apollo which took humans to the Moon, is a better answer. Unlike heavy, expensive batteries or dangerous hydrogen engines, the fuel cell emits....h2O....water....as it's waste product.

As discussed in Analog Science Fiction Science Fact Magazine, excessive water emissions from hundreds of millions of cars may also be a problem, changing humidity and other weather factors. But capture devices for the emitted water could solve this in the tailpipe section.

Otherwise, look for $10 a gallon. Your wages stay the same. The environment we all share--and your children and grandchildren will share depite your current monetary wealth and arrogance--is your gift to them and please be CERTAIN that outside of money, they WILL inherit from you.

What is the chance this will become more popular?

Mr.Z:

Fuel cells come in various "flavors" and the ones under test by Mercedes Benz offer five minute refueling and over 250 mile range. Other auto makers report similiar results. The fuel cells in question are not the same as those used in Project Apollo, which took us to the moon. The Apollo ones, and most of the ones many auto makers are playing with, cost alot during this test phase in concept cars. Some of the fuel cells under study by auto makers use less eco-friendly methods in creation, maintaince and tail pipe results. The best fuel cells under study by elements in the auto industry WILL be cheap and completely change the way we look at driving a car. These commercially manufactured and some-day-available fuel cells will emit water and the public needs to demand them and buy cars with them when available. They will be availble well before the 2020 car model year. The first should be in 2016 model year from at least two European car makers.

Domestic auto makers are looking into the more or less "ideal" fuel cell based on NASA's Project Apollo model. So is DARPA, the spook agency in charge of secret weapons, space elevators, robot soldiers, robot aircraft carriers--manned solely by drone planes, robot tanks, cheap space ships to lower the cost to get into orbit from 5000 buck a pound to 50, et al.

I like several of those concepts, and happily, DARPA stages a few open-to-the-public competitions with large cash prizes for inovations DARPA considers in the "National Interest." Private companies continue to research cheap, water--H2O--emitting fuel cells since a multi-TRILLION dollar industry is waiting in the wings. So is a vigorous Commercial Space Program, run by private individuals, which is already using fuel cells in a small way and will require their total development to make their TRILLIONS.

Robert Heinlein, my late Water Brother, wrote about this in the early 1950s in his novel, "The Man Who Sold The Moon." Check it out.

I shall, thank you for this information. Fuel cells sound like a great idea to me. I shall look up Heinlein's lesser know novel, thank you again.

The lowest for cash gas prices in my area are about $3.29/gal for regular, which is pretty good in the last year or so. However, still unbelievable that prices are above $3/gal.
